Illustrated Recipe for French Toast Apple Strata

French Toast Apple Strata

Layer a 500 ml bottle of applesauce and 3 grated apples with 10 slices of eggbread, pour over 6 eggs mixed into a can of carnation 2% milk (original recipe called for 8 eggs and 2 1/2 cups of cream but that’s too fatty for my blood).

At this point you can let sit an hour or can refrigerate overnight. When soaked and ready to go, preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Take:

3 T butter
1/3 brown sugar
1/4 c corn syrup
1 T cinnamon or
1 T lemon juice (optional)

Boil until it is is lightly bubbling. Pour over soaked bread. Bake at 375 degrees for 45-50 minutes. It will be puffed and wobbly in the center.
