Cool is the Key

devilled eggs and cold sandwiches
34 degrees in. 36 degrees out. (94 and 97 Fahrenheit). A refrigerator-temperature meal is best, and served with lemonade.

Prep: In the cool of yesterday evening, cooked eggs and asparagus, and roasted red peppers. Made devilled eggs to chill and left asparagus to marinade in dressing this morning.

Come evening, cold soup (from 3 large tomatoes, 1 leek, 3 roasted red peppers, a palm of thyme and a dab of cream cheese) pureed in the food processor.

Sandwiches: Marinated asparagus spears wrapped in lettuce and cream cheese in a whole wheat tortilla. Olive ciabatta topped with a mixture of cream cheese, avocado, parsley, dill and sliced cucumber.
