
A hot pan of mom’s tea biscuits.
I’d often come home to this in primary school. It’s simple as
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1/2 cup chilled butter
3/4 cup milk
Sift floour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Cut in butter with a pastry knife until the flour-butter is the texture of oatmeal. Make a well. Add milk and mix lightly to make a soft dough that comes away from the bowl.
Turn onto floured board and knead lightly for 10 seconds. Roll to 1/2″ thick. Cut with cutter (such as tin of tomato paste with the one end open and the other pierced to let air out). Place on pan. Bake at 425 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Eat hot.

At mom’s the rest of the meal, the canned beans, canned peas, boiled potato and ghost of a fork twirling the spaghetti in sauce.
