I got little cookie cutters of alphabet. This sugar cookie recipe has the tip to roll out and cut out onto parchment paper on the cookie tray so they don’t overbrown. Maybe next time.

The dough stirred until it comes together in a ball (to keep chilled, work it with hands dipped in ice water; found that out after).

I added some anise seed to roll in on the why-not-principle.

The first cookies were merry to make. Fascinating how some letters come out of the floured cookie cutters easily. The H and Y came out easily every time. The J and M were obviously going to be in short supply. In this font, C and G were kind of abstract.

The physicality of letters, the play of colors. Follow the instructions on (Scrabble) box for best letter distributions to make words later.

The dough started to get brittle and the break rate kept going up, rerolling is a fine idea when there’s no sugared tops. The colors get all embedded thru.

The remaindered into rough-hacked triangles.
