13 Gladnesses

For Thirteen Thursday, a special edition of the glad game after this message from the sky:

  1. I like knowing someone well enough so that I can email and know exactly what will make them laugh on the receiving end and hear it in my head, and then bonus if I get that reply of bulls eye.
  2. I like being known so well that when my brain takes a left turn and I start laughing, someone knows exactly where I went.
  3. I’m appreciative of how particular friends make particular thoughts possible. Even knowing that a friend’s bias could hear something out rationally and not flip out makes the thinking around an idea navigable.
  4. I’m mostly thru Christmas/New Years cards, even mailed most. (Mislaid some addresses tho.)
  5. I like knowing patterns and what to expect. Thursdays, there’s fewer emails consistently. It’s as if the whole world takes a deep breath and pushes thru as the real work day of the week.
  6. I like how sleep irons out the worries. It may be a sloppy ironing job but no burn marks. I may still feel rumpled but am more or less presentable.
  7. The longest night of the year is almost here and therefore more sun coming. Egad, we’ve nearly survived, again!
  8. Glad for the toughness of the spider who builds a web on a window thousands of times its body height off ground in minus obscene degrees celsius and catches only snowflakes. Take that, Chuck Norris.
  9. The owner of East African Restaurant seems really nice. Positive energy about him. If energy had shape, size and color, his would be a graduated orange glow of 2 inches around his form.
  10. Glad to not be where I was. 20 years ago I was in the deep end of fundamentalism. As in flat-earth was viable, dinosaur bones are planted by Satan as a ruse and permissible test, the moon landing is as unverified as Yeti and medical intervention for birth or death was against The Will. I was never without tracts or New Testament on my person.
  11. So glad to not be where I was. It was no alcohol to the point of no perfume, no vanilla, nothing of the vine, taking that as broadly as meaning pumkin and squash, completely missing the intended point with letter of translated law, as is apt to happen in that literalist strain.
  12. Glad to be where I am: at home on a cold night. Getting to know more and more people who are good people.
  13. Glad the phone is working, such as it ever works. (VOIP or our service has some bugs still, like reverb, drop outs and your device is not connected) It’s better than trotting to a corner phone booth for those who communicate by mail or in person.

Wow… lovely picture of all that snow. Would you believe we hardly have any of the white stuff as yet. ‘They’ say it is coming tonight.. we’ll see. :-)

Like you.. I am very very glad not to be where I was some 20 years ago. But then.. I guess we are where we are today because of where we were way back then. :-) And also like you.. I like where that is today.

we don’t have huge heaps here yet. it’s sifting down but the picture’s from last season.

thanks Coll for the wise and encouraging words.

yes, suppose we can’t mess with the timeline or would change the flow of present and future. might end up working with evil Spock in Amok time or something.
